Hi everybody,You may have heard the terrible news about the Beach race pile up involving Club Member 16 year old Ty Kellett.
Ty is currently in the intensive care unit of Frenchay hospital in Bristol. He had suffered horrific injuries to his leg,spine,kidney,liver and face but more worringly was in a coma due to severe swelling of his brain. Carol and Nibs have been overwhelmed by the support and messages left and text to them,they want everyone to carry on racing and enjoying the fantastic community spirit that our sport has given us.
Thurs 5th Ty has set off like a rocket !!!! He is back on wheels and has been outside in a wheelchair.He took a trip to the cafe and had a hot chocolate. We are looking forward to visiting him tomorrow and will leave a update on our return
FRI 6th Walked in to the ward this afternoon to find Ty sat on his bed and looking well (much better than I imagined).
Ty cracked a smile and shook my hand and we started talking.Ty,Nibs,Carol,Emma and myself grabbed a wheelchair and went off the ward for a drink at the Cafe.Ty can walk with reasonable stability but has lost a lot of weight and is only just eating real food in small quantitys, he has acheived a lot in a small time and appears to have got over the first few dunes of this race.
Wed 11th Ty has got funding from local government (eventualy) to go to a brain injury rehab unit (BIRU) which is absolutly the best place for him to be (Richard Hammond was in here and had the same consultant) he will get the best physio and attention to make him strong again .Ty has got his own room and some home comforts. He has made more progress with his speach and is getting stronger and better day by day.
Thurs 12th what a difference a week makes.I rang ty this evening,He spoke clearly and intelligently to me about his visitor......see who by clicking on the button
Visiting times are mon-fri 5 till 8.30 Sat & Sun 2 till 8.30
Tues 17th Nov Ty has been out and about today with Carol,He has also received a text from Josh Coppins

Word up Kiddo!! All positive vibes on here then?! Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while, been flatout getting things sorted with Twisted 7 and the all the Red Bull Pro National stuff. From what I'm reading you'll be up and about at them next year so that's rad. Going to try really hard to free up time and come and see you next week. Keep fighting back to good health and keep putting a smile on my face. You 're the man, man!

You won't remember us- you were very little last time we saw you! We are out in NZ now and just heard this morning through a friend in the UK that you were in that terrible pile up in the beach race. Great to hear that you are on the mend m8, have been struggling to find up to date news until I found this site. I spent many happy years as a MX Rider (not very good though !) and I know that our comunity is the best & closest in any Sport and everyone pulls together to aid a fellow rider in times of trouble. My elderly Mum lives in WSM and was very saddened to hear the news about the race.
Since then we have followed your progress and are so relieved to read you are doing so well.

i had an accident on a 50cc ktm when i was 7 and nocket my front teeth out! so i retired on bikes and went to quads!

hey ty... glad to see your gettin better by the day, you probably wont remeber me but i have raced you a few times... only really spoke to you at canada heights end of last year we were havin a BMX session on the minibike ramp...which was awsome!

Hey Ty, I Raced at weston for the last 4 years but couldnt this year after a very bad accident 6 months ago. I was in a bad way for along time but after a lot of help I am nearly back to the point where I feel I will be able to ride again next summer. My point is stay strong kid, make small goals and you will be back on your feet and fighting fit again soon. Take care, Steve.

Good to see you looking so well, I've never seen you all grown up and was over the moon to see you looking good. We'll have to come down and ride Yeovil with you soon as you can pedal again....
I got Manon a crf15o earlier this year, it's a beast, had to lift the clip up to calm it a bit, We're going to have to come down your way for some lessons. She's been winning National Downhill races overall, beating all the elite girls, before she's even junior.
Keep it up, can't wait to see you all again.

I am the secretary of Vectis Motocross Club (Isle of Wight) & speak for all of our members when saying how glad we are to hear that Ty is improving daily-many of our youth members check the website every day for an update on how Ty's doing. Although i've never meet you i was moved to read the artical in the Western Gazzette 12 th November which was posted to me by my Mum (i emigrated to New Zealand in 2004).My brother (Andy) and i went to school with your Dad and i bumped into him at a meet some time ago Stocklinch near Ilminster.
Please send my regards to all your family and i wish you a speedy recovery,i'd love to hear from your Dad,an email would be great.
